Let’s start the new year on the right track. You want to be healthy, you want to manage your finances, and you want to stay safe. But at the beginning of 2013 did you think about insurance? We had a mini-series about updating your existing policies, but what if you’re lost from the start? Don’t fret! From now until the end of January we will give you a blog for each insurance policy we cover.
Let’s discuss why insurance is important and how it can help you. If there is a question you’d like to ask us, please write it on our facebook wall! Is there a term you don’t understand about insurance? How does a deductible work? What’s a claim? We will be here every step of the way this month to help you out as best we can.
A is at the beginning so let’s start there. Auto Insurance is labeled a number of different ways: auto insurance, car insurance, or motor insurance. When you enter a contract with an insurance company – like
Texan Insurance – the company agrees to protect you from financial loss resulting from an accident involved with your vehicle. Your policy will define what losses are covered and the coverage limits. Not every policy is the same. If you have a fairly older car it might be wise not to have your policy cover collision since the car is old anyway.
This protection expanse past financial aid and enters costs of property (like if your vehicle is damaged or stolen) and medical expenses (such as treatment or rehabilitation for injuries). Your policy could cover lost wages and funeral expenses as well. There is also liability coverage that pays if you are at fault in an accident.
There are six types of auto insurance coverage. Some states have different requirements for coverage, and a few don’t require it at all.
It is also a good idea to brush up on your Insurance lingo. Check out this blog:
