The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Climate Prediction Center released their prediction for the 2011 hurricane season last week. In it, they predicted a 65% chance of an above normal hurricane season. According to NOAA, there is is an estimated 70 percent chance that there will be:
- 12-18 Named Storms
- 6-10 Hurricanes
- 3-6 Major Hurricanes
