It’s that time of year! St. Patrick’s Day is around the corner, and there is no better place to celebrate with your friends and family than in Houston!
The History of St Patrick’s Day
Saint Patrick’s day has a very interesting history. According to The Encyclopædia Britannica Patrick was kidnapped at the age of 16 from Roman Britain and was sold as a slave in Ireland. He eventually was able to escape and make his way home, only to return to Ireland several years later to help convert the Irish to Christianity. This missionary did many great things, including helping to build many churches and schools in Ireland. On March 17, Patrick died and since then there have been many celebrations and feasts on that day in commemoration of his legacy. Shamrocks are often used as a symbol of this holiday because it was said that Patrick used the shamrocks to explain the Trinity to people.
