Immediate Steps to make your Claim
There are many questions and concerns when it comes to claims. Elzey Insurance wants to help you to the best of their abilities! If you’re concerned about the potential impact of submitting your claim, contact us and discuss your situation! (This is just one of the many benefits of doing business with me and my dedicated team instead of some faceless 800-number somewhere.) When first dealing with a loss, it is best to:
Report the loss to a professional Elzey Insurance claims representative as soon as possible. All of our representatives are highly-trained in the insurance and service fields. The faster you report your claim, the sooner we can help you!
Avoid further property damage by arranging for reasonable temporary repairs as soon as possible. For example, if windows are broken, have them boarded up to protect your home and property against vandalism or weather damage.
Keep an accurate record of all temporary repair expenses (e.g., bills and/or material receipts) so that you can add the amount to your claim. Also, keep an accurate record of any and all expenses incurred to be considered for possible reimbursement. Please do not make any permanent repairs until the insurance adjuster has had a chance to review the damage.
Determine the damage to your personal property, which means your contents. Make a written list of what was damaged. To be as accurate as possible, please include the manufacturer, brand name and the place and date of purchase. It is wise to make this list as easy to understand as possible. Try categorizing everything by room. It is always best if you could provide photographs, videotapes or personal property inventories as valuable resources during the itemization process. Separate damages from undamaged property. In order to complete a full assessment of your loss, your Elzey Insurance claims representative will need to inspect all damaged property. If possible, place damaged items in a secure area where they can be inspected. If you are unsure about an item, include it with your damages as well – just in case. Elzey Insurance is HERE to advise and counsel you; to explain how your insurance really works. We’ll give you the facts BEFORE you submit your claim and help you make the best decision – for you!
