Labor Day is right around the corner. Many of us look forward to having that Monday off to Bar-B-Que, spend time with family and just to relax! But have you ever thought about what Labor Day really is?
Established in 1882, Labor Day in the U.S. was dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions American workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.
The last few years have been rough and the economy has seen its fair share of ups and downs. In our current economic situation, every little thing we buy or do affects someone else – even there job. That’s why on this Labor Day, Elzey Insurance wants to challenge you to “Buy American!” When you go to the store, take the time to check the label and see where its made.
Did you know that buying American-made products can actually be less expensive? Take a look at this example: Often, the store brand of a grocery store is manufactured in the U.S.A. and it is usually less expensive and just as good! Our challenge to you is to start reading the labels when you shop for items you use everyday and see what you can find that is made in the USA! The purchase you make today, can effect someone’s job and the job you save may be your own or your neighbor’s!
The Challenge
To encourage you, we are asking that you take a picture of an American-made product that you buy this Labor Day weekend and post it to our Facebook Fan Page. We will randomly choose a picture and you can win a $20 gift card! All pictures must be posted by September 9, 2011. Not on Facebook? No problem! Email us a picture of your American-made purchase at service@texaninsurance.com and we will post it for you!
It may seem small, but every small thing add up to make a BIG difference! From all of us at Elzey Insurance, have a great Labor Day!
