We are excited to announce that Texan Insurance has been awarded the 2021 President’s Volunteer Service Award! This award is given to businesses and organizations that display a commitment to volunteerism and making a difference in their communities. We are honored to be recognized for our efforts, and we could not have done it without the support of our team members and clients.
The President’s Volunteer Service Award was created in 2003 by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation. The President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) was founded to recognize individuals, families, and groups who have achieved a certain level of volunteer service over the course of a 12-month period. The PVSA has continued under each administration, honoring the volunteers for using their time and talents to solve some of the toughest challenges facing our nation. Led by AmeriCorps and managed in partnership with Points of Light, this Program allows certifying organizations to recognize their most exceptional volunteers. The award is given out on an annual basis.
Texan Insurance has been supporting the Houston Food Bank since 2016 in many facets, including our referral program, team-building events to help sort and package donations and food drives. We are honored that Texan Insurance was nominated for the President’s Volunteer Service Award based on the total number of volunteer hours served in 2020.
In order to be eligible for the award, businesses and organizations must spend between 100 – 500 hours volunteering. Award levels are given based on the number of hours served. We feel privileged to receive the 2021 Bronze Level President’s Volunteer Service Award for our volunteer work at The Houston Food Bank. One of Houston Food Bank’s main goals is to distribute food and other essentials to those in need through a network of more than 1,600 community partners. In addition, they also provide programs and services aimed at helping families achieve long-term stability, including nutrition education, job training, health management, and help securing state-funded assistance.
Thanks to our dedicated coworkers, we volunteered 231 hours during 2021! In addition to our volunteering efforts, Texan Insurance continuously donates funds each year through our referral program. With every referral, Texan Insurance donates $10 to HFB. Last year alone, we were able to purchase over 10,000 meals thanks to this program.
Texan Insurance has always been committed to giving back to the community, and we are grateful to have such supportive staff, families, friends, and clients who share in this vision. We have a long relationship with the Houston Food Bank spanning over 6 years, and we look forward to continuing our work in the coming year and making even more of a difference in the lives of those around us.
We are honored to receive this prestigious award, and we are proud to be able to give back to our Houston community.
